I’m a fine artist, designer, animator, illustrator, writer, fabricator, and most importantly, curious participant.

GREETINGS!

FESTHAUS is my personal portfolio and boutique Cincinnati-based design studio with a wide-range of artistic capabilities, delivering original, educated, intentional design for 20 years – which you can read more about here.

In my “off hours” from digital projects, I explore analog design methods for a variety of creative personal projects. You can view these explorations below.

I’m a big believer in story first, then wrapping that unique idea in a thematic, holistic design. Things have to make sense to me, have intention; a reason for being.

I dislike stock, computer-generated templates, digital prompts, and anything AI. Digital tools are one thing, but the act of creation should always be human-based. If I use Adobe Creative Suite tools or Procreate, for example, they are a means to an end that I create – I do not allow software to come up with solutions for me.

I want to be a consumer of art and products and experiences that are thoughtful, handmade (or human-generated), and preferably tactile – not a derivative formulation of a digital algorithm. The beauty of life, in my opinion, is in the real, natural, unexpected and sometimes imperfect state of things.

As a student of the classical studio arts, architecture, animation, and as an illustrator and author – along with over 20 years of digital design experience and a love of research and curation – I have a thorough understanding of the visual arts from story-based, multi-dimensional, and tactile perspectives. The result is artwork that’s intentional and personal – and hopefully things that audiences enjoy.
